Why it is Famous : Val di Fiemme is site of 1991, 2003 and 2013 world championship in cross-country skiing
Area Information : Fiemme Valley (German: Fleimstal, Italian: Val di Fiemme) is a valley in the Trentino province, i.e. the southern half of the Trentino-Alto Adige/Sudtirol region, in northern Italy, located in the Dolomites mountain region. Val di Fiemme is a privileged vacation area. Crossed by stream Avisio, the valley is surrounded by the Monte Corno Natural Park on the West, the Latemar chain and Pale di San Martino on the North, by Val San Pellegrino and the Paneveggio Natural Park which is considered one of the most important and beautiful parks in Europe on the East, and by the Lagorai chain with Cermis on the South.
Why visit : The valley features a huge park crossed by lots of interesting paths to practise sports or enjoy relax, both surrounded by nature or in the new wellness and fitness centres. The woods' heritage and related activities - such as artistic wooden handicraft or item-manufacturing branded by eco-compatible international trademarks - are still managed today by the age-old Magnifica Comunita' di Fiemme. Headquartered in Cavalese, this institution safeguards ancient rules and traditions by fostering local people's connection with their cultural roots. In the summer, Val di Fiemme offers a wide programme of both sport and kid activities, including hikes, mountain-bike rides, Tibet-style walks and Trekking delle Leggende tours. The first Nordic Walking Park in the whole Trentino region was implemented in Val di Fiemme.
How to reach : By car route 1) From the Brennero/Modena motorway (A22) take the Egna/Oroa exit and proceed along the Dolomite national road (S.S. 48) in the direction of Cavalese. route 2) From the Brennero/Modena motorway (A22) exit at Trento Nord, then take the national road S.S. 12 and when near Lavis continue towards Cembra Valley and proceed in the direction of Cavalese. route 3) From the Venice/Ponte delle Alpi motorway (A27) take the exit to Belluno and follow the road signs to Agordo (S.S.203). Then proceed towards Falcade and cross the San Pellegrino Pass all the way to Moena from where it is then possible to take the S.S.48 that links the valley. route 4) Heading northwards from S.S.47, shortly after Cismon del Grappa, take S.S.50.
