The Alder, opened in February 2015, is gorgeous with handmade furniture and accents built by the owners. It is a 720 sq ft vacation rental with 1 bedroom, 1.5 baths with a full kitchen, gas fireplace, in-floor radiant heat, 2 LED flat screen TV's, leather furniture, private porch with gas BBQ and incredible view! This is the perfect vacation rental for a couple or small family looking for a peaceful, relaxing and invigorating place to stay! Our property sits on the bluff 550 feet above sea level, overlooking Kachemak Bay and the Kenai Mountains. The Alder is on the 2nd story above the Fireweed. The Alder & Fireweed share a lawn, large outdoor fire pit, horseshoe pit and sitting area on the edge of the bluff.

Cancellation Policy · We require a 50% deposit at the time the reservation is made. The remaining balance is due 15 days prior to your reservation. · If you do not show up for your reservation or you cancel less than 15 days before, you will not be refunded. · If you cancel 15 - 45 days before your stay, the 50% deposit will not be refunded. · If you cancel over 45 days before your reservation your deposit will be refunded minus a 10% processing fee. · We will make every effort to re book your dates so that you owe the least amount possible. |

There were 4 of us, two adults and two children. The space was amazing, we were stunned with its elegance and charm. We enjoyed it so much we extended our stay an extra night. The fire pit, complete with fire starter and wood, was a perfect place for relaxing and toasting marshmallows. Sleeping arrangements were great, both the bed and the sleeper sofa were comfy-cozy. The wood stove heat is controlled by a thermostat, and the in-floor heating kept our toes nice and warm. The hosts were communicative, and wonderful to meet. We cannot say enough about this place, and will definitely stay here the next time we visit Homer.

This is a stunning property. We stayed for two nights in November, which is not exactly high season in Alaska. Nonetheless, we were treated to perhaps the most stunning sunset I\'ve ever seen. That was just an extra, as the accommodations were perfect. Comfortable bed, nicely done interiors, and very friendly people. Just a few minutes from Homer, this is a place we would where likely return our next time in Alaska.

The view was beautiful. Wished we could have enjoyed it more! Clean, up to date, and just enough space without being too big or small. (If owners want suggestions, maybe a few more kitchen items, like cloths, foil, wrap and small plates would be helpful).
