We spent a week in this spectacular home in mid May. The house is spacious and open. Huge family room with views of the mountains, gourmet kitchen and comfortable bedrooms make it a pleasure to stay in. It is walking distance to hiking trails and a mile into the center of town. The unique surroundings offer lots of activities for children and adults. I would highly recommend this property whether its business or a romantic escape.

This is my first official review......and I can't wait to gush about how wonderful this property is!! My family has stayed at this property a few times as it is the perfect home away from home.....with activities and amenities galore. The house itself is breathtaking, comfortable, very clean and well kept. This property is tucked away in the rolling hills of San Diego county, which gets us away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. But all of your needs are a short drive away. And one of the best parts....the owner (Bob) has his own restaurant in the quaint town of San Marcos just minutes away. We had several of our meals delivered to the house so that we wouldn't have to go anywhere....and the food was excellent. The owners are super guest friendly and during all of our stays have gone out of their way to make sure we had everything that we needed and wanted. We spent our days lounging by the pool, enjoying the magnificent views and going horse back riding right on the property. Our 2 kids would probably say that the horses were there favorite part!!! Bob is like the "Horse Whisperer" and is so fabulous with animals and the kids. The kids got to interact with the horses while Bob got them ready to ride...the whole time learning about all of the gear and why each step was important. The kids rode in the arena first and then Bob took them on a wonderful trail ride....the kids still talk about it! Aside from the horses and the pool the house is filled with so many other great activities..... Pool Table, Video Arcade Games, Foosball, Air Hockey.....it was plenty to keep our whole family entertained. And if you feel the need to go to the beach...it's only a short drive away. We haven't yet taken up Bob on his offer to drive his luxury motor home bus to the beach and park it for the day....but what an amazing offer.....one we are sure to experience in the future! At night our favorite thing to do was sit out on the wonderful deck and just take in the breathtaking view while sitting by the fire and having great conversation. This property has such a warm and welcoming energy about it...it will not be our last visit....we plan on going again in the near future and bringing some friends to enjoy what we keep bragging about!!! Where do I begin my review of fantastic stay at the Ranch by the sea ? There is so much that makes this a perfect vacation destination. From its location in the beautiful San Eilijo Hills . Where you constantly feel the ocean breeze and are able to see Hot Air balloons gliding across the evening sky and then fall asleep under the gorgeous canopy of stars in the night sky. To being able to make your stay absolutely anything you want. As active as Horse back riding on the trails surrounding the property or in the arena the professional arena connected to the stables. Or maybe head to one of the beautiful beaches only minutes away and spend the day surfing or just sunbathing by the pool at the house. That's just for starters as the property is not far from San Diego itself and tons of shopping along with Sea World. the San Diego Zoo and more too. But the greatest thing I and my wife have found staying at the property several times is that no matter what it is you want to do from all of the above to absolutely nothing but laze around and relax Bob can and does make it happen. Whenever we have stayed at the property Bob has made it feel more like it was our home than a vacation property.Our stays have been the few times when we have returned home from a trip actually feeling better for going. I can not recommend this property or Bob and his amazing hospitality enough to anyone who truly wants to have an enjoyable and unforgettable vacation. From Retiree's to families of any size or couples looking for a romantic place this is it. I promise you go once you will be hooked and will be going back all the time .

Let the party begin!!!!! “The Ranch by the Sea” provided our family (big in numbers) a most entertaining, comfortable & spacious home to begin celebrating one of the most memorable days of our life – OUR WEDDING 7/23/11. From the pool, to all pinball machines& video arcade games, ping pong table to billiard table every kid young and old, was entertained - we did not leave the house, except for our wedding ceremony. The patio was the ultimate gathering area in the house with a gorgeous view, comfortable seating & tables, shading, fire pit and heaters to enjoy the daytime or evenings outdoors. We held our rehearsal dinner at the house & our guests were in awe with the home as well as the food which we ordered from Bob’s café – The Pepper tree Hills Cafe. Bob made it happen. He is the Hostess with the ‘mostess’. Bob accommodated all our sleeping needs, and was prompt in all our requests personal or house-related. Bob presented us with an awesome wedding gift which added such a personal touch. When we decided not to cook, the café menu satisfied everyone’s appetite and their staff was amazing and so friendly. The café menu was delicious, especially the fish tacos, & located just down the street. The Ranch” is the home away from home for a memorable vacation, family reunion or just a getaway. Bob, thank you so much for adding more wonderful memories to our wedding weekend. You are a great host.

Let me start with Bob, the owner. The most amazing, accommodating, easy-going concierge we've ever met! And we do travel a lot. If you're looking for a nice quiet place in a beautiful, calm, and secluded part near the Elfin Forest, if you're looking for a beautifully decorated and charming family friendly house, and if you want the best nights rest you ever got, then "Ranch-By-The-Sea" is the place to be!!! My friends and I spent most of our time outside, by the pool with trampoline, jacuzzi and fireplace at night. And to make things easier, Bob was also serving us very affordable breakfast, lunch and dinner from his nearby cafe. Love, love, love the place! Definitely coming back! P.S. And if you happen to play ping pong (which this house has, along with regulation size pool table, Star Wars pinball machine, old-school Arcade games machine, b-ball shooting game, table hockey, etc) then ask Bob to play a game or two, he is pretty darn good! My wife and I and our friends had the pleasure of spending a weekend at The Ranch. It is a peaceful oasis seemingly far from the hustle and bustle of southern California. The property is located on a beautiful hillside, very secluded, and has a fantastic view (you can see downtown San Diego in the distance in one direction and the ocean in another). There are fruit and avocado trees, horses, and every amenity you would want. We spent time in the jacuzzi, picking and eating fruit, feeding oranges to the horses, and bbqing. Mostly we just found it a very relaxing and beautiful place to hang out with friends. But we could see it would be great for families as well. The house is large, spread out, pin ball games, ping pong, pool table, music system, fully stocked bar . . . I couldn't think of anything that was missing. Upon arrival we found all kinds of food and wine waiting for us, and the host went out of his way to show us around and explain all the features of the house. As we left my wife said, "He couldn't have been any more welcoming."

Our family reunion at the Ranch by the Sea was a smashing success. We made many requests of the owner to accommodate our large family and on the day of our arrival every room was fresh and inviting with beds for everyone. The pool was our greatest enjoyment from dawn till dusk with kids and adults lining up for their turn at the diving board and in the evening, many enjoyed relaxing in the warmth of the jacuzzi. Horseback riding was a dream come true for kids and adults. The owner gave special attention to each rider to ensure safety and enjoyment. And there was never a dull moment in and around the house with the pool table, pin ball machine, table tennis and much more. In the evening, we would gather on the terrace for dinner taking in the magnificent view in the distant hills. As it became cooler, we enjoyed sitting and visiting by the outdoor fireplace..a perfect ending to the day. I must start with this place is is breathtaking. The estate is amazing and the pictures don't even do it justice. It is on the hill overlooking San Diego. Every night we had dinner and drinks on the patio to watch the sunset and the hot air balloons. I rented this property for a family reunion. This house has something for everyone no matter what your age. The pool and hot tub are amazing. It has plenty of seating for everyone if you want to be pool side. Also even if you don't want to be pool side you still feel like your apart of whats happening. There is a huge patio above the pool that you can easily look down to keep close eye on your kids in pool and activities. There are many games to keep the kids and who am I kidding the grown ups entertained as well. There is foosball, pool, basketball, pinball, arcade games, and more. There are many large flat screen tvs in this estate as well. To be honest there is so much to do the only time we turned the tv on was to find a music channel to play through the surround sound that goes outside on patio and swimming pool as well. I grew up in the country and now live in Los Angeles. Just another reason I love this place. You really feel like your in the country. There are horses on property with large riding arena. Bob and his daughters gave my family riding lessons. The horses are well trained and gentle. He has both ponies and horses. You can ride even if you have never ridden before or if your a trained horseback rider. If you haven ridden horse before and feel comfortable. I would suggest taking a trail ride. There has to be about 200 acres of trails that surround this amazing estate. Bob took us on a trail ride that I will never forget. We went behind the house farther up on the hill. It was one of the most amazing views I ever experienced. It was a clear day and we had panoramic views of the ocean seeing Catalina Island all the way to San Diego. It was simply breath taking. Another reason I really liked this Estate is I also love the city and everything that is has to offer. We took the kids to Legoland only 10 min drive away in Carlsbad. There are numerous beaches to experience that are very close only 10-20 min drive depending on what beaches you would like to go to. There was also plenty of shopping and places to eat in the nearby area as well. I must say I've never been somewhere where the owner is so helpful, polite, funny, and accommodating. In August 2012, our family of 18 ( 2Grandparents, 4 children with spouses, 8 grandchildren) rented both the Ranch by the Sea and the adjacent Tennis Estate by the Sea. It worked out best that the 4 younger children (1 to 4) and parents stayed in the Tennis Estate and the older children (5 to 8) stayed in the Ranch Estate. However, there was easy movement between the two houses, so that all were able to enjoy all the benefits of both. Both pools were delightful. We used the pool at the Ranch (and its adjacent hot tub) mostly because it was slightly bigger and had more seating. The ranch had a smaller playhouse in the back. The Tennis Estate had an excellently-equipped lighted tennis court, along with trampoline and large children’s playhouse. At our request, Bob, the owner, graciously purchased a case of tennis balls and cart, and he had enough tennis racquets for all of the children and adults who wanted to play. On several days we brought in a tennis pro who gave lessons to both children and adults. The adjacent pool was especially handy on those days. Each house is extremely well equipped with cooking utensils and equipment. We ate dinner mainly at the Ranch because the new grill was larger and seating outdoors could accommodate all of us. Breakfast and sometimes lunch were split between the two. The Tennis estate had a widescreen TV as part of the very large kitchen and eat-in area (which also was equipped with toys of all types for the younger children). The Ranch had a pool table (and widescreen TV) and several video and real pinball machines, which provided hours of fun for the older children and adults. On top of all that, bob provided a horseback riding experience for all of the children and some adults. The facilities are outstanding, and we would have used it more, but the weather was unusually hot during most days. Under most conditions, the riding opportunities are unique and valuable for those who wish to partake. All in all, our family had a great time staying in the two houses, and we thank Bob for his gracious hospitality that provided us fun time and many memories. Published Dec 28, 2012

Awesome holiday in Bobs Ranch. Bob couldn't have been more accommodating, if we had a query or request he sorted efficiently and promptly. The Ranch is spacious and has all the facilities you'd need. There was only 7 of us so we could have a choice of rooms per night if we wanted. Pool and spa were a good size and really easy to use and adjust. The Ranch is on multiple levels and is very spacious. My daughter took full advantage of the horse riding while she was there, and Bob graciously took here on a couple of trail rides to know where to go and see. Sum up, awesome place and we wish we could have stayed longer.

We had a group of 21 ranging from 3 months old to 83 years old. The house was amazing. Of course, the pool was the focus of our time there, but the teenagers loved the pool table and the evenings on the gorgeous patio with the beautiful fire pit and large wrought iron dining table will be remembered for years to come. Bob is the ultimate host. He was available at all times to make sure that every need or request was met. If we texted him, we received an answer within minutes. A wonderful place and one we won't ever forget.

I have not sat down and taken the time to write this review as I should have done right after our stay. Bob and his family were absolutely amazing. We rented the Ranch Estate and the neighboring Tennis and Playground Estate (also owned by Bob) for a school trip from Memphis to the San Diego area. The houses were exactly what we needed! There was plenty of space for the kids, the pools were great, the tennis courts next door was awesome, etc… Bob and family provided everything that we could have possibly expected to have provided for us and made sure we knew who to contact if there was a problem (which there wasn't). The homes were gorgeous but I still felt good about having 7th-12th graders in them. You can tell that the properties are well maintained at all times. Our favorite part was sitting by the fire pit on the back deck at night. This was an amazing trip and I don't think our choice in accommodations could have been better. Also for safety since the properties are connected but each have pass code protected gates I knew that the kids could go back and forth between houses without any concern. There is a grocery store about five minutes down the hill and even a couple of Costco's not too far away. Make sure to ask Bob about hiring his chef for an authentic Mexican fiesta as well. :)

We had the best time at this beautiful property. With 7 bedrooms, everyone was extremely comfortable. Tons of games both inside and outside. The most incredible views both day and night! The owners were extremely hospitable and helpful!! Can't wait to come back again!!!

This place is fantastic. We stayed here for two weeks in late October & early November for our wedding. We were actually married on the back patio of the Ranch house. We also rented the adjacent Tennis estate to accomodate additional guests. The house was amazing, but even more so, Bob, the owner of the place was a pleasure to deal with as well. Without going into great detail, needless to say he went way above and beyond any expectations we had as far as taking care of us. I had a good time talking with Bob and getting to know him and hear his stories from the various lives he has lived. We spent a good bit of time with him, and he offered advice on places to eat and places to see. He even gave a few of us horseback riding lessons. The property is wonderful, and well-maintained, with spectacular panoramic views and great outdoor seating to take it all in. We were gathered nightly by the propane fire pits. One would think (and we did) that this place was in the middle of nowhere, but it really isn’t. You’re only about a mile from groceries, restaurants and whatnot. It was close to Legoland and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park (not the main zoo near downtown). Some of the crew, including my in-laws and parents went to nearby Temecula to visit the vineyards and had a blast. Nothing in San Diego county is centrally-located per se, but if you’re looking to visit different places in Southern California I can’t picture a more perfect place to come home to at the end of the day. An hour and half from Disneyland, 45 mins from San Diego Airport and Gaslamp, maybe half an hour to La Jolla. When our time at the house was over, my new wife and I took a few days and traveled up the highway one to Monterey and then finished the last week of our vacation in various hotels in San Diego. We stayed in some pretty nice hotels but all we kept thinking was how much we missed the Ranch house. About half of our guests had never been to California, and some were skeptical of what all the fuss was about, but by the end of the trip, everyone said the had the time of their lives, and were blown away by how nice the two houses were, how picturesque SoCal is and how accomodating and friendly Bob was. Talking about this place in the past tense makes me very sad. We have intentions of coming back every few years to pay Bob a visit and spend some time in Southern California, our new home away from home. - Zach

I stayed here for a week. It was extremely breathtaking. My family decided to take a small family vacation to the southern California region. There were a total of 10 of us, this place was extremely accommodating as was the host Bob. The house was over the top- to say the least the grounds were in immaculate condition. It was perfect for my family of a couple kids and rest adults. The kids were constantly busy at the pool and playground area and after spending some time talking to Bob, the owner gave us advice on places to go see and eat and he also gave the kids horseback riding lessons which the kids still talk about! It was a place where we felt at home and not just at a random hotel. We were still very close to the SD zoo/legoland for the kids and not too far from downtown for us adults. This rental home really gives the feeling of living the life in San Diego, we loved how friendly and accommodating Bob was and we will definitely be coming back!!!

I had my Graduation/Commissioning as an officer party at the Ranch. With my family coming from all over, my own house in San Diego was not big enough to accommodate everyone. I rented the Ranch for a week from May 13, 2015 to May 20, 2015; and my family and myself loved it! The ranch is large, clean, and very accommodating! I am definitely considering renting the ranch again for my family in a year or two if I still do not have a larger home when they come back.

This vacation/reunion was absolutely amazing. We were close to the beach & LEGOLAND. There was plenty of thing to do at the house, such as pinball, arcade, and swimming. It was priceless to see my boys riding the horse. This gorgeous house has an amazing view & wonderful sunsets. This place has plenty of space, we had lots of people with plenty of room and not feelings crowded. I can't wait to book our next vacation here. The property was really groomed nicely. This was the first vacation we didnt need a vacation after vacation.Their was so much room my kids played so well that me and my husband could relax and visit with the family. It is so beautiful and spacious none of us wanted to come home. I Highly recommend this place. I had no idea their were houses this big and beautiful and yet close enough to attractions (Lego land) and grocery store. The gated property was such a relief not stressing about kids taking off yet they had the time of their life. Thank you for the most memorable summer ever, already wanting to plan next summer stay there.

We had the most amazing time on our vacation up to what my younger children called "the castle". There is so much to say about it. We have stayed at resorts so many times but this was my children's (ages 7-20) favorite place we have gone. It is hidden up on a hill with trees after driving up a little private looking road through trees and has an amazing view! Our family was having a large extended family get away together at this time and I was worried about the close proximity of myself with 20+ people since I like my space but wanted to spend some much needed family time together. We arrived at the property after everyone else was there and I was pleasantly surprised to find that even though there were so many people at the house there were so many places to go and stay that I still had several places to go for seclusion. There is the main "castle" (LOL), a pool house, and another separate mother in law like house. The separate casita which was where I was so kindly assigned for my place to stay with my children except my teenage boys who were given the pool house where they were free to play their music and games as loudly as they wanted and it did not affect myself or anyone else. My little piece of heaven had large windows with white curtains where I was able to open them up during the day to smell the pine trees and feel the cool breeze as it came in when I was reading. In the room next to mine in the mother in law house is also a pinball machine that my families kids came and had hours of enjoyment on in addition to the other games in the main house (pool table, and arcade games). We really hadn't planned on staying at the house for much of the time, we had been excited to stay there because it was so close to the places we wanted to see but I had a hard time pulling my kids away from the large playground, watching the horses, the pool and the ping pong table, you name it-they were having fun here. I did get them to leave for two of the five days to go to Legoland and the beach which were both extremely close despite how secluded the area felt from the traffic around the mountain. We had meals cooked for us on some of the days and can I say how marvelous it was to have someone else do that after a long day at the theme park and beach. The areas were kept clean and the owners were absolutely wonderful to work with. THANK YOU!

We were able to bring three generations together at the Ranch and everyone had a fabulous time. It was close enough to everything that the kids were able to run around and do their own thing during the day, but remote enough to be peaceful. Some went to the beach and Legoland, others stayed at the Ranch and rode horses, swam in the pool, or played. There were games for kids of all ages. We always assembled back at the property in the evening for dinner and fun. The flow of the entire property was awesome and none of us ever felt crowded. It was clean, well stocked, and the owners were very accommodating to our requests. The outside is amazing and the pool is stunning. There is something for everyone. It is just what we hoped it would be. Thanks Bob, for an amazing time. We'll definitely be back.

You have found the BEST San Diego rental on air BnB...look no further - the time of your life is a few clicks away. From the moment we walked up, I knew we made the right choice.... and by the time we saw the view.... we were in love.. The grounds are spectacular, the pool is unforgettable, many many spacious rooms, and tons of activities for even the most stubbornly anti-fun. (Pinball!), and horses. There are lots of mansions on Air BnB, but trust me you have found the best. Bob, made us feel welcome from the get-go, and welcomed us with open arms... but then gave us privacy when the weekend began. A perfect situation. At the same time he could've hung out with us all weekend and we wouldn't of minded. He's very hospitable, brilliant, and amicable. And if that is not enough, the owner suggested an AMAZING catering company, masterfully cooking for all our guests all weekend long... I suggest the Paella dinner! With all the touches of home, and a splash of decadence, there is no-other place I will ever have my get-togethers. Consider me counting the days till I can rent this place

this house is amazing, the property is fantastic. they offer things i couldn't even imagine. the family that runs the property are saints and available to help with anything needed. Ive never slept so good. Its close to everything but far enough away for the prefect get away. Also would be a great place to do a small company retreat. Our whole experience at the ranch was wonderful. We traveled to San Diego and met up at the ranch for a family reunion. The ranch was perfect for our needs. The property itself was secluded but amenities like groceries and restaurants were very close. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed to host multiple families with kids ranging from 14 months to 11. The rooms were all spacious and comfortable. No one felt like they were on top of one another. The kitchen was well stocked with all the equipment we needed for meal prep. Our kids kept busy with all the toys: video games, pool, ping pong and toys for the littles. Even though it was cooler outside we still were able to take advantage of the pool and fantastic outdoor space. Since we come from cooler climate, the 65 degree temp outside did not deter the kids from swimming and it was great that the pool was heated. Bob was excellent to work with. He was very responsive to any texts or emails from the beginning of our inquiry through end of stay. We took advantage of the horseback riding and hiking too. My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer! I would definitely recommend this property to families looking to make some great memories.

The property was just what we had hoped for and needed for a multi family vacation. The house was perfect for us the parents of 4 children and their families. All families were kept busy playing with their brothers and sisters and the grandkids with their cousins but when privacy was needed there was plenty of space. Because the weather was so nice the kids opted to play in the beautiful pool every afternoon instead of visiting attractions around the area. The house was clean and neat. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment/appliances large and small so we could have each family share their favorite meals. Bob, the owner was concerned our vacation met our expectations so he was available to answer any questions. As it is a ranch, the horses were a hit for the kids and parents. There were 4 generations at the house. The oldest 93, the youngest 3. The house was perfect for us. Two families were on different time zones. Because the rooms are really spread out, we could all sleep, nap, and play without disturbing anyone. We spent the entire time on the property since there was so much to do. The grandkids announced it to be the best vacation ever! Bob and his family were very helpful. I highly recumbent this property.

Our family of 19 recently celebrated our 50th. wedding anniversary at this lovely ranch property. Everything suited our various needs - from the pool area to the spacious and well appointed comfy house, supervised horseback riding, hiking trails and interesting local activities. We would return anytime and highly recommend both the property and most hospitable host. This property well exceeded our expectations.

The ranch was a great fit for our family of 14. Grandkids range in age from 20 to 13 and there was something for all to enjoy. The pool and diving board, the 4 pinball machines, and the pool table were lots of fun for all. The granddaughters were given horse back riding lessons by Bob and his daughter and taken on a trail ride. They were excited about it and enjoyed the experience. There was spaces to be together, but also plenty of rooms for privacy. Bob and his family were great hosts, quick to answer any questions and to help in any way they could.

This amazing ranch resort tucked away in the hills of elfin forest was a spectacular mix of Resort, retreat, ranch, and estate. This home acomadated the needs of all 14 of my business group with its stunning view nice roomy interior and a amazing hiking trails and good areas to hangout in like the pool or he patio. The estate was only 9 min. From the beach and close to fine dining and at the ranch there was nice sunsets and rises that you could peer upon for miles.

We had a family gathering (14 of us) for a week, as my family is spread out from the UK to New Zealand. The site is well placed for visits to the coast (real waves and a warm sea went down well with the grandchildren) and sites like Legoland and the San Diego Zoo, which were two day trips out and about. The rooms were great - we did not need to use the one down by the pool. The 6 grandchildren could eat their evening meal outside, earlier than the rest of us, and we ate later inside; a couple of times we all ate together on the patio. The pool equipment was more than adequate for all the kids, and the pool itself was well maintained. The children liked to visit the horses and collect eggs. The weather was very warm, as one would expect in August, so that just meant that we stayed indoors for the hottest part of the day. The pinball machines were a big, if rather noisy, hit! Bob, the owner, was very helpful as was his daughter and their handyman.

I was looking for a house to accommodate my family of 20 odd something people for our annual family gathering. We were looking at several properties, but ultimately ended up picking this one! The house two bedrooms on the top floor; one bedroom has a door that leads to the outside, however, you need to walk through the amazing bathroom and other bedroom to get to the stairs to get downstairs. There are two bedrooms in the house on the first floor and two bedrooms across the way, but you have to walk across the patio to use the bathroom in the house. There is also one more bedroom next to the pool along with a bathroom. All the rooms had a heater/AC unit so the temperature was always nice. While we were there, we got to experience some of the worst weather SD had seen in years. However, Bob did all he could to make sure our experience was great! There were more than enough towels and TP for everyone and plenty of serving and cooking materials. Additionally, Bob made sure there was enough beds so every person had a spot to sleep comfortably. There was also 2 fridges and a full size freezer at the house as well. We additionally enjoyed using the pool and jacuzzi when the rain stopped and spent a lot of time gathering in the kitchen. The long dining table was also another great spot to sit around and play cards or eat too! One of the highlights during our stay were the arcade and pinball machines! There was always someone playing at least one of those games. Bob also has horses on the ranch and we loved seeing them up close. We also used the fire pit on the last day during sunset, so that was a nice touch too. Additionally, since the property sits on a ranch, there was a lot of parking available for all the cars we brought. While the weather was not in our favor, this was the PERFECT place for large families to gather and spend some quality time together.

My wife and I flew our children (and spouses in from Alaska, Colorado, and Maryland to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary. The home exceeded our expectations from the horseback rides for the grandchildren to the many bedrooms which accommodated. Bob was a wonderful host, always responding to any text questions we asked within minutes. He also had suggestions of where to eat and where the best best beaches for the grandchildren were. We loved our stay and plan to return for other family vacations.

Our family stayed at the villa this past July and loved both the accommodations and tremendous hospitality shown by Bob. It is hard to describe the property because it really does have both a ranch and villa feel which creates a true retreat setting that is still convenient to area attractions. We had 9 family members ranging in age from 7-68 celebrating my 40th birthday and there was plenty of room to all spread out while still being together as a family. We were there a total of 5 days and drove to the San Diego Zoo which was about 40 min but the Zoo Safari Park was only about 15. We also went to Moonlight State Beach per Bob's recommendation which was fantastic and about 15 min away (though parking was tricky and you just need to drive around Encinitas until you find a spot) While it was convenient to the area like I said it is in itself a destination and retreat. My brother and his wife opted out of driving adventures and spent the entire time at the home and enjoyed books, pinball and relaxing by the pool. My kids loved the diving board, feeding horses, table tennis and night swimming with my parents. There is an Albertson's 5 min away just down the hill which was really nice and extremely convenient. We also hit our favorite area pizza place called Pizza Port which opened a new location about 15 min from the ranch. Overall I can't recommend Bob and the place enough. While it provided a base and comfort it also created an experience that my family and I will always remember as truly unique and special. We can't wait to get back!

Bob and his home are wonderful! The home has plenty of bedrooms all clean and beautiful. The billiard table, arcade games, pool, and jungle gym made every age we were traveling with happy. My grandkids loved the huge pool with tons of pool toys, sand toys and boogie boards to take to the beach. There is a grill and huge outdoor eating area. Bob his family are kind and accommodating. They even allowed my granddaughters to ride their pony’s that are on the ranch. We would definitely recommend a stay at the ranch. With beautiful sprawling views of the mountains, a large home and kitchen with everything you could need (cooking supplies, laundry machine, plenty of towels, grill etc.), and a large clean pool, we didn’t need to leave the house for anything. We loved our stay and will definitely be back!

From the moment we drove up to the ranch we knew we were going to love our stay. It’s totally private, beautiful surroundings and the views are gorgeous. This was our annual Celebration of Life reunion. We had a large group of women and everyone had a comfortable bed. The home was large enough for everyone to have quiet time, but also be all together at the big dining room table. The kitchen was totally equipped with everything you needed to cook. Plenty of towels for the pool. All kinds of games to keep you all busy and having fun. All you need is your small carry bag and your set for a fun time. I would definitely recommend staying here for family or friend gatherings. The owner Bob was there to greet us and give us a simple, informative tour of the home and grounds. He made it easy and we didn’t have to bother him during our stay. I encourage anyone thinking about this home to book your vacation here, you’ll be over the top happy. We will be coming back. Oh, if anyone in your party likes horseback riding Bob will let you ride in the areana and even take you on trail rides. So much fun!

We had a group of 16 women and 1 infant staying at this beautiful home. It was absolutely amazing! So clean and was more stunning in person. Bob was so great to work with, he replied to every e-mail I sent him in a quick, timely and friendly manner. He met us when we arrived and went over everything with us and was right there whenever and whatever we needed. The location was perfect for what we wanted to do, winery tours and sit around this amazing house and enjoy the pool, hot tub and fire pit every evening. If you are planning a trip to this area you definitely need to book this house, you will love it!!!

Bob could not have been more accommodating and responsive. My party enjoyed the pool , dinner and drinks on the deck , late night games of pool and fuse ball to name a few. The place came as advertised and as expected. Plenty of room for a large group. Setting is convenient with easy access to San Diego , beaches and golf. A few of my must sees include sunset dinner at Jakes Del Mar , Coronado beach with happy hour on the hotel deck , lunch at the Stone Brewing Co. , Petco stadium , Gaslamp district , SD Zoo and Balboa park botanical gardens and a day at Universal Studios. With the latter , if prone to motion sickness , premedicate with Bonine. Of course my favorite was a round of golf at Torrey Pines. The views and conditions were spectacular! All in all a great place for guests of all ages.

We used the Ranch for a huge family reunion, and it was just right: Lots of hangout spaces of various sizes (some big enough for the whole group), an inviting pool and spa, and reasonable proximity to the beach and the city. It's occasionally rough around the edges and could use a bit of maintenance, but overall comfortable, functional and well-equipped. The pros vastly outweigh the cons. Highly recommended.

Bob has an awesome house and was great to work with. We had a group of 16 people and there were enough real beds for everyone. Usually you find houses that say they sleep 16 but that means everyone is a couple! The house was super clean, beds comfortable and the pool and hot tub were incredibly nice to come home to! Would love to stay again.

We had a great vacation with our quarantine buddies. We had a group of 9 adults and 6 kids and the way the house is spaced out it was perfect. It also has great common area so we can all come together. The pool was great too. The kids and adults all had a blast. We highly recommend this location for a larger group. Bob is easy to work with and has great stories. We hope to come back.

It’s been a week since we left and we have all commented that we wish we were back. The place felt isolated and separate from everything but was also a quick drive to whatever we wanted or needed. The grocery store was minutes away, Costco a little farther, and the beach was about 20 min away. There was a huge pantry to store our food as well as two full refrigerators. This was helpful since we were social distancing and brought most of what we needed with us. The home has a large wrap around patio where we spent much of our time. The pool, playground, and beautiful trees were well loved as well. The house had plenty of room for two families, kids, and nannies. Bob was very accommodating and always available. If needed. The kids absolutely loved their horseback riding lesson. And now I’m probably going to have to continue them! Thank you for everything. We hope to be back someday.

Bob’s Horse Ranch home is exactly what we needed for our social distancing summer getaway. Bob was incredibly responsive on every little thing and a great host. My favorite part of the home was the massive terrace on the main floor. Huge table, couches, fire pits, grill, other seating areas. We loved sitting out there during sunset grilling with a cocktail and watching the hot air balloons. The pool was perfect and clean. The bedrooms are broken into pairs throughout the house with shared bathrooms. 4 are inside the main house. 3 are either in the casita across the walkway or down by the pool. Kitchen is well equipped with extra fridge and freezer space, which was nice. The living room is not a traditional setup. There are pinball and vintage arcade games, which members of my family loved. If they get too loud for you, Either shut them off or go outside to that terrace I was telling you about. There are only big club chairs in the living room and not a couch, with a big pool table in the middle. If you want to sit around a couch, head outside. We went for daily hikes on the trails around the property, horseback riding with Bob and his son and fed the horses carrots daily. The kids loved the playground too. The beach is about a 30 min drive. The Belchibg Beaver is a great brewery close by where we picked up some great supplies for the trip as well Overall a really great experience and a fun home in The Western side of Escondido. I would recommend Bob’s home for a remote getaway.

I was looking for a place to get together with friends and? family during? thanksgiving. we all got tested to have a peace of mind and be responsible for the public. vrbo and Airbnb had technical problems and I got double booked four times and finally when I? wanted to? book w Bob my cc has reached the limit from previous booking but he made it happen! house was great had all the amenities we wanted the only thing to note is the bathroom for one of the cottage outside is inside the main house. but everything was great Bob was very accomofating. had plenty of supplies for us. thank you for everything!

Great venue to enjoy the north San Diego area for my family & friends. Isolated property gave us a peaceful and relaxing 2 weeks in the foothills. Property was as described. Pool was as clean as I have had as a rental .Definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and the host, Bob, is super nice and easy to work with. We had a great horseback riding lesson, swam in the pool, played pool and arcade games. Very very comfortable beds. And Bob’s wife is an excellent photographer so we had family pictures taken. We would stay here again. The view is outstanding.

He gave a great deal to stay at the house for a couple extra days. He cared about his guests and making sure all the aspects of the property were sufficient for us! This property offers the best of both worlds ! A rambling estate in a serene setting yet only about a half hour to the beach so that you can enjoy all that southern CA has to offer. Our grandkids loved being able to see and feed horses, climb on the playground and swing on the tree swings. And the pool area and other entertainment areas were just perfect . Bob was very attentive and accommodating and the property truly had everything we needed to enjoy a wonderful family vacation!

Don't even give it a second thought! The Ranch by the Sea is amazing. Wonderful memories will be had. Our family of 5 (Mom, Dad, and 3 teen boys) had a awesome time! At first we were concerned that it would be too big but it suited us perfectly and we could see how it would comfortably suit much larger parties as well. There was so much to do and see. Pros: *Views, they were amazing!!! Just stunning. We loved hanging out on the balconies and enjoying them. *The flowers and plants growing on the property were gorgeous. It was fun to walk around and take a look at them all. *The horses, Blondie & Culpepper were super sweet. We enjoyed visiting them, petting them, & feeding them carrots. *The video games & pool table provided a lot of fun. One of the pinball machines was not working when we got there but once we informed Bob he had it repaired immediately. *Bob, the owner, was very responsive to our needs. He typically responded right away. *Surplus of supplies. The place was well stocked with the exception of shampoo, conditioner & body wash but those were easy to get down the road at Albertsons. *Alphonso the private chef, recommended by Bob, was out of this world good! We HIGHLY RECOMMEND having him come cater a few meals. We had him 2 of our 5 nights and wish we would have had him over more. It was such a treat and the food was sooooo good and reasonably priced. If I had to come up with some Cons it would be the following: *The place could use a sprucing up of paint here & there. *The diving board in the pics is no longer there. *The microwave was wonky but worked with some finessing. None of the Cons were even remotely deal breakers, just things we noticed. Overall this place was just wonderful. As a family that has rented dozens of homes, we found this one to be our favorite. We would definitely love to visit again!

Fantastic property and owners. Beautiful spacious estate overlooking the hills with a wonderful pool and hot tub. Plenty of room for our guests. Owners Bob and Dylan were prompt, polite, and always accommodating. Nearby horses were a big plus! There’s a small town just a few minutes drive with grocery store, a Starbucks, and a few restaurants. This was a superb getaway for my old medical school friends and I, and we recommend you get in touch with Bob and book this place right away!

We spent every day in the pool! This was perfect for our group of 19. Arcade games and the pool/pingpong tables were very popular, and we completed several puzzles on the dining table. Plenty of room for spreading out or gathering as a group. Picked up Tip Top Meats prime rib dinners dinners the first night, took sand castle building lesson with EJ, and Chef Alonzo came in and cooked a marvelous Italian dinner our last night. Very private feeling and wonderful views. Fed the horses treats and observed humming birds, bunnies, lizards, frogs and a snake! So cool. Bob, his son Dylan and Roy, the daily main man, were very responsive to any requests we had for assistance.
