This is an exceptional place to bring a young family. The house and the pool are kid safe and kid friendly. Your children will be entertained and safe. The owner's graciously made sure there were plenty of toys and equipment available. The owner is a spectacular host with real interest in your experience and yet an awareness of your needs for privacy. The tennis court is in pristine condition and the views are excellent. The house is large and comfortable. We came home a wishing we could have stayed longer.

I should start by saying that I barely know how to use a computer let alone write reviews and postings on the internet. However, I felt compelled to show my appreciation and spread the word about a wonderful experience I had while visiting California. I had planned to take my family to California for quite some time but wanted to make it a vacation that we would all remember as that special experience. I am happy to say that I delivered, thanks to this rental property. Bob is the owner of the property but is more like a personal concierge if you need him. Upon arriving, we were given a tour of the property and informed of all of the great possibilities of keeping my family entertained. He also owns a restaurant down the street which turned out to be a huge bonus considering we had a full menu of great healthy prepared food just a mile down the road. Who wants to cook on a luxury vacation, right? Aside from being a large house with everything you could need, this property offers so much more for kids and adults. The swimming pool and tennis court were fun for everyone and the children's playground was popular with my youngest one. On the last day, we all explored the peaceful California countryside on a relaxing horseback ride using some of the horses that live on the property. To make a longer story short, I will just finish by saying that we will definitely be back. Thanks for the memories!

In August 2012, our family of 18 ( 2Grandparents, 4 children with spouses, 8 grandchildren) rented both the Ranch by the Sea and the adjacent Tennis Estate by the Sea. It worked out best that the 4 younger children (1 to 4) and parents stayed in the Tennis Estate and the older children (5 to 8) stayed in the Ranch Estate. However, there was easy movement between the two houses, so that all were able to enjoy all the benefits of both. Both pools were delightful. We used the pool at the Ranch (and its adjacent hot tub) mostly because it was slightly bigger and had more seating. The ranch had a smaller playhouse in the back. The Tennis Estate had an excellently-equipped lighted tennis court, along with trampoline and large children’s playhouse. At our request, Bob, the owner, graciously purchased a case of tennis balls and cart, and he had enough tennis racquets for all of the children and adults who wanted to play. On several days we brought in a tennis pro who gave lessons to both children and adults. The adjacent pool was especially handy on those days. Each house is extremely well equipped with cooking utensils and equipment. We ate dinner mainly at the Ranch because the new grill was larger and seating outdoors could accommodate all of us. Breakfast and sometimes lunch were split between the two. The Tennis estate had a widescreen TV as part of the very large kitchen and eat-in area (which also was equipped with toys of all types for the younger children). The Ranch had a pool table (and widescreen TV) and several video and real pinball machines, which provided hours of fun for the older children and adults. On top of all that, Bob provided a horseback riding experience for all of the children and some adults. The facilities are outstanding, and we would have used it more, but the weather was unusually hot during most days. Under most conditions, the riding opportunities are unique and valuable for those who wish to partake. All in all, our family had a great time staying in the two houses, and we thank Bob for his gracious hospitality that provided us fun times and many memories.

This estate is truly amazing. It has had everything I was looking for. I went here with my family and friends. We all had an amazing time. It has something for everyone. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the tennis court. We played so much I think I still have blisters on my feet lol. The tennis court isn't the only thing played on it. The kids loved riding bike, playing catch, basketball, tag, among other games they played. There is also a great playground adjacent to the tennis court in the grass. The kids also loved jumping on the trampoline. This estate also has a pool. It is a great pool just to lounge in or if you have kids there is no deep end which we all liked. No matter where you are this place has amazing views. You have views of the country side along with views overlooking San Diego. We really loved that every night we saw hot air balloons in the sunset sky. Also in the summer months Sea World shoots off fireworks which we could see in the horizon on clear nights. Although there are many restaurants near by. This estate has an amazing gourmet kitchen. There were a few nights we decided to not go out and went to a local grocery store a mile away to pick up food to cook which was very nice. \ Bob is the best host. Not only is he very funny and easy to get along with. He is also very helpful if you ever need anything just text or call him. He is also very knowledgable about things to do, see, restaurants, beaches, shopping, etc. This house is also one level which is good if you have anyone elderly or young children staying with you. This is which the exception of the stairs going down to the pool, tennis court, and playground. Also, there is an apartment above the garage that you need to climb stairs to get to. This apartment is also great. It is a one bedroom with full kitchen, bathroom, and living room. I would recommend this place to anyone. Especially if you love Tennis or have kids.

My family and I stay at this property year after year, and never have we ever had any problems. The estate is always very clean. The owner is always very accommodating and helpful with anything he can. The house is huge and is great for our family. The playground is an added bonus for the kids and the pool is just great! The ocean view from the property is not that big but it is beautiful. The price of this property is fair considering how much space to play with you get. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a calm oasis with the family. Thanks Bob!

Let me start by saying we had the best and most memorable family vacation ever. The estate was just as beautiful as the pictures show and the views were AMAZING! I loved the location too, you feel like you are secluded in the country, yet just a short 5 minute drive to town. The house itself was gorgeous and very well laid out. The kitchen was great and very well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The sleeping accommodations were great too. My kids loved the bunk beds. My kids also loved the playground and exploring the property. They had a ball. My husband and I loved playing tennis and sitting on the patio in the evening watching the sunset. I also loved that the swimming pool had a safety cover. That really put my mind at ease with having little kids. Bob the owner was great as well. He gave us several suggestions on places to eat and places to take the kids. Legoland was a great hit with the kids and so close. Thanks for the suggestion. He was always just a phone call or text away. Just writing this review makes me want to go back again! Hopefully we can get back out there next year.

The Tennis Ranch Estate by The Sea was everything we were looking for and more. This is not the first time our family has stayed at a Home Away property. We have a large family and include our son's friends on many trips so Hotel/resort stays at a 4.5-5 star level stays require multiple rooms and it gets really really expensive and leaves our family disconnected, which is the opposite of why we take these trips. It's about sharing the vacation experience and time TOGETHER. Being from the east coast, our family needed to get away from the frigid temps of CT and enjoy all of what sunny CA is about! We tossed and turned on the idea of staying at nearby La Costa Resort. We decided to find a nice home that would give us the resort amenities my family desired. Pool, Tennis, Luxury, Adventure, etc. From booking to arrival, everything was taken care of. The owner was quite helpful and arranged for some excursions such as atv, horse back riding, and fishing. The house is quite beautiful, the woodwork on the ceilings were stunning. The kitchen is chef quality(wish mine was like this), and the bedrooms were nice, clean and ready like a hotel would be. The exterior is what shines even more. Views, views, views. oh yes and the breezes were so comforting, yes I have a stressful job :-( . Hours were spent with my husband just relaxing, gazing into the sky. It was wonderful. The Kids loved the pool, we did play a bunch of tennis and had a blast. The playground outside was a bonus as well. Keeping kids occupied=HAPPY FAMILY VACATION! Do not hesitate to rent this place.

This property was perfect for our yearly family get together. Something for everyone. From well maintained pool toys, to playground to the gardens we were impressed with the hand tailored linens and how well the kitchen was stocked. Plenty of gathering room indoors or out so everyone always had enough room. This home was all that was promised and more! We will definitely be back!

This place is great. We rented this house for a few days in late October & early November to accomodate guests for our wedding, which took place in the Ranch house next door. The house was great, and Bob, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with. He took great care of us. The property is wonderful, and well-maintained, with spectacular views and great outdoor seating to take it all in. We were gathered nightly by the propane fire pits, doing everything from tarot card readings to pondering life, death and quantum physics. One would think (and we did) that this place was in the middle of nowhere, but it really isn’t. You’re only about a mile from groceries, restaurants and whatnot. It was close to Legoland and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park (not the main zoo near downtown). Some of the crew, including my in-laws and parents went to nearby Temecula to visit the vineyards and had a blast. Nothing in San Diego county is centrally-located per se, but if you’re looking to visit different places in Southern California I can’t picture a more perfect place to come home to at the end of the day. An hour and half from Disneyland, 45 mins from San Diego Airport and Gaslamp, maybe half an hour to La Jolla. When our time at the house was over, my new wife and I took a few days and traveled up the highway one to Monterey and then finished the last week of our vacation in various hotels in San Diego. We stayed in some pretty nice hotels but all we kept thinking was how much we missed Bob’s property. I didn’t spend nearly enough time in this house, which is upsetting because it’s a really cool place. I recommend it highly, especially if kids will be in tow, because Bob and his wife have done a lot to make sure kids are accomodated and safe. I loved playing the piano in the few scattered moments I got when I wasn’t rushing around doing wedding related things. Also, the master bedroom is absolutely phenomenal! About half of our guests had never been to California, and some were skeptical of what all the fuss was about, but by the end of the trip, everyone said the had the time of their lives, and were blown away by how nice the two houses were, how picturesque SoCal is and how accomodating and friendly Bob was. I have stayed at many places around the world. The reason I loved this place so much is because I could bring my whole family and stay all under one roof. It was very comfortable and many bed and places to sleep. It is a beautiful house and property. I was able to take the kids swimming everyday and I was also able to play tennis which I love. I have stayed at many resorts where there are tennis courts available but having your own private court with lights for night was the best. Bob the owner was also very nice and accommodating. He also has horses and riding arena next door. Just ask about horse riding lessons for an additional fee. It was the best experience we have had in a long time. I strongly suggest staying here.

I just loved this property. I stayed here with my family. The property has room for everyone with many rooms and guest house suite above the garage. IF you love to swim or play tennis this house is for you. We have younger kids that played in the park near the tennis courts while the adults played tennis. The kids loved the pool. The owner also has a riding arena next door that for an additional fee he will give you riding lessons. The property is amazing with breathtaking views of San Diego. Every night around sunset there are hot air balloons in the sky. I would strongly recommend staying here.

I can't begin to describe how absolutely perfect this home is. Better than described and very clean and well stocked. We had 3 families with kids ranging from 3-19. Our goal was to find a place where the kids wouldn't be bored so the adults could relax and visit with each other. Although that was our goal and it certainly happened- we also joined in with the kids many times because the activities were so much fun. Swimming, basketball, tennis, playground, trampoline, inside Kids play area with lots of fun toys, BBQ, and great patio with tons of seating overlooking all the activities and incredible view of valley. There was also a fun hike nearby, and we visited the beach twice- only about a 10 minute drive. The beach toys, chairs and umbrellas were wonderful- they were a big bonus! Plenty of room to sleep, every person had an extremely comfortable bed. Each room came with flat screen and netflix. It rained everyday but our first day and we still swam everyday but 1 and thats because we left the house for an excursion to Old Town. Perfect weather for our tennis and basketball tournaments. We lighted up the tennis court at night and that was the biggest hit of all I think! What can I say? It was amazing- we dream of coming back! :) Thanks Bob for all your extra efforts to make it really nice. He was always available if we had questions. Two incredibly enthusiastic thumbs up from all of us! Vacation of a lifetime!

This property was just perfect for our extended family of 7 adults and 4 children aged from almost 2 up to almost 7. We chose Southern California as a central meeting place for our family, as we live in various parts of the world. I think we used every feature of this house. We loved the heated pool with the electric cover to keep children safe, we adored the family sized trampoline and the excellent tennis court was well used. (The court even has lights, but bring your own racquets if you want a proper game). We played the piano, cooked on the barbecue, watched movies on the TV, did jigsaw puzzles on the formal table and bathed all the little ones in the big master bath (which even had bath toys). In the evenings we sat outside under the gas heaters and marveled at the stars. Bob was an attentive and generous host. He was there in flash when one of the showers wouldn't turn off and he and his lovely wife Rose did us 4 special favors during the week, that were really above and beyond what we expected. The house felt comfortable and safe. The weather in April was perfect - no bugs, no flies, and just right for sitting outside and slipping in and out of the pool. Although the house looks grand in the pictures, it has a cosy feel and has toys, a high chair and there are even bikes for the tennis court and floaties and pool toys for the pool. I would thoroughly recommend this house, especially for families as it is particularly child friendly.

We travelled with 2 families to the house for a vacation where we based for trips to LEGOLAND, SD Zoo, SD Safari park, and beach. The house is great and has great amenities for the kids. This mixed with the animals on property and great hiking trails nearby made this an amazing vacation and I would recommend the property for families.

Our family of 8 adults and 8 children had a wonderful time at the ranch playing tennis, swimming, etc. and the kids loved the trampoline and playground equipment. An extra bonus was the play area in the house which is loaded with interesting toys. We also enjoyed the chickens and the goats that they brought over for the kids to see. When we needed something, they were there quickly to meet our needs with a smile. I loved the baby grand piano!

The property is absolutely breathtaking. Both houses have unbelieveable views. Bob and Rose were extremely attentive and accommodating. The houses were extremely clean, well stocked with bathrooms, fresh towels and laundered, crisp linens. The only regret is, I could not bring the homes back with me.

My girlfriend and I had the chance to stay at Bob's Tennis Estate last week while waiting for our new home to have the construction completed--and WOW. Beautiful grounds, awesome pool, huge spacious home with everything we could have thought of or needed. Bob gave us an informational walk-through when we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed and was available by phone the one time we couldn't find a lighter for the grill. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic country-style retreat.

I first rented this house in February of 2017 and then returned for a family reunion in November 2017 and then for a small event in February of 2018. I plan to return again and again. The property was very clean and well maintained and Bob and his wife Rose offered fantastic customer service. We cook our own food and the kitchen was perfect for cooking for a small and or larger number of people. When we needed more things for the kitchen they were brought over right away. The bedding was perfect - beautiful sheets and comforters and the beds were very comfortable as well . The setting with beautiful flower bushes surrounding the house and the views from the window in the living room and kitchen area were just incredible. I would totally recommend this house to both friends and relatives! There are also beautiful nature walks near by and lovely restaurants in the area and just a 1/2 hour at the most from the ocean. I plan on returning as frequently as I can going forward!

We had a great time. Bob was a great host. He was there to greet us and go over everything with us. Chef Alfonso made us a great breakfast. We had a college reunion with 15 friends of ours. Bob was able to communicate very quickly with us thru text messages. Definitely worth the stay, and great location which was close to everything. Beautiful home and location.

We stayed at the Tennis Ranch for the Thanksgiving week with our sons and two of their friends. Because of Covid, we didn't go out of the house much, but we were so comfortable at the house, and there were so many things to do, that we had a wonderful and fun week. I can't imagine a tennis court in a more beautiful setting! It was amazing to sit on the deck watching the boys play tennis with the amazing view of the mountains in the background. The house was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Bob was amazing and super responsive when we had a question. We hope to be back after the pandemic is over, so we can explore the area a bit more. Oh - and we had a fabulous take-out Thanksgiving dinner from the Green Dragon Tavern in Carlsbad! The best I've ever had!!! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!!!

There was always something to do. From the pool to the playground to the tennis court, arcade game and foosball the options were endless. Also wonderful places just to relax. The location is close enough to stores and restaurants for anything you may need. Waking up to the chickens and the horses was a treat for us city dwellers. We would highly recommend Bob and his property.

The house was a dream for those with a family. The house was spacious, clean and full of fun things for the family. The tennis court is huge and loaded with toys for kids and adults. The kids were obsessed with the playground and beautiful heated pool. Bob was wonderful with communicating and let us go on a horseback ride on property. We enjoyed cooking in big kitchen and eating outside watching the sunset . We had no reason to leave the house entire weekend! We will be back!

Our blended family has members from 75 to 14 months. We were so happy to find a home large enough for everyone to have the privacy (bedrooms / baths) that we needed and sleep in a "real" bed. The tennis court was huge hit, as were the bicycles provided by the host for the children. Pool was perfect for lounging in the afternoon. Kitchen is large and well equipped. We cooked every meal in the house and found everything we needed. The host was very responsive when we had questions.

This property was fantastic for our 3 generation family trip. The pool was perfect, swingset and tennis courts were also a hit with our kids too. The room set up provided lots of space and the open living, dinning room and kitchen allowed everyone to stay connected. Bob and Dylan were good hosts and were quick to respond when needed too. The only downside would be getting a key for the facility. We didn’t feel like the doors locked very well even though there was a key pad code at the end of the driveway. One opportunity for improvement would be to put hooks up for towels in the bathrooms.
